Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the Purpose of the Church?
Acts 2:42 Acts 2:42 could be considered a purpose statement for the church: "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." According to this verse, the purposes/activities of the church should be 1) teaching biblical doctrine, 2) providing a place of fellowship for believers, 3) observing the Lord's supper, and 4) praying.
  • What Does the Bible Say About Sin?
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
  • What Does the Bible Say About Church Attendance?
Hebrews 10:25 The Bible tells us to meet together as believers and to encourage one another. Hebrews 10:25, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
  • What Does the Bible Say About Anger?
Psalm 37:7 God counsels patience toward these aggravations. They will never stop, so we need to learn how to handle them: "Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes."
  • What Does the Bible Say About Marriage?
Gen. 2:18, 21-24 The Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him'...and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man.' For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh
  • What Does the Bible Say About Forgiveness?
Gen. 2:18, 21-24 The Bible instructs us to forgive as the Lord forgave us: Colossians 3:13, "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."
  • What Does the Bible Say About My Own Righteousness?
Gen. 2:18, 21-24 Isaiah 64:6, "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags" Romans 3:10-12, "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."
  • What Does the Bible Say About Sex Before Marriage?
1st Corinthians 6:18-20 & 1st Corinthians 7:1-2 "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.".
  • What Does the Bible Say About Christian Debt?
Romans 13:8 Paul's charge to us is to owe nothing but love is a powerful reminder of God's distaste for all forms of debt that are not being paid in a timely manner (see also Psalm 37:21)). At the same time, the Bible does not explicitly command against all forms of debt. The Bible warns against debt, and extols the virtue of not going into debt, but does not forbid debt. The Bible has harsh words of condemnation for lenders who abuse those who are bound to them in debt, but it does not condemn the debtor..
